Visit from a Cousin

Last week my sister Cheryl and her cute little boy Sawyer came to visit.  Originally she and both her boys were going to come for about 2 weeks but unfortunately she just wasn’t able to do that.  I was thrilled though she was still able to come at all and bring Sawyer with her.  Cheryl came for a much needed girl’s weekend and I got to watch Sawyer while she was with her friends.

Hannah and Sawyer are about 3 months apart and were such cute play friends.  They saw each other in November when we went to Pittsburgh.  They played cute then, but Hannah was in the middle of a terrible ear infection and had been away from home for nearly a month.  It was so fun to see Hannah host Sawyer and be on her turf.  I had been warned that Sawyer is a lot of work and full on energy and runs and jumps all day long – but I think he was in a new enough environment with people he’s not super familiar with that it calmed him down just enough to not intimidate Hannah.

Hannah took Sawyer under her wing and took complete care of him.  They loved sitting in their high chairs talking, pointing to each others food, letting me know when one person was out of food.

Jonathan and Hannah also go on a walk when he gets home to get the mail.  Friday, they took Sawyer and I told Hannah to hold Sawyer’s hand.  That was all it took and they were hand holding buddies the rest of the weekend.  Every time we went outside they would hold hands and walk with one another.

We went to the park several times and Sawyer was just what Hannah needed to be a little more adventurous on the playground.  Sawyer had no fears going down any slide forwards, backwards, head first or feet first. It encouraged Hannah to try a few more things.

Sawyer has the cutest little bow legs of anyone you’ve ever seen.  I knew I wanted to take him to ride a pony at Thanksgiving Point.  I thought he would LOVE being on a horse and feel right at home.  Hannah went first and the whole time it was Hannah’s turn, he cheered and loved the horses and waved from the stroller.

When it was Sawyer’s turn, he panicked and wanted NOTHING to do with those horses.  Being the good aunt that I am, I forced him on the horse anyway.  He cried the whole time and said “No horsie”.  I guess he’s not the natural born cowboy we all thought he would be.

He liked looking at the other animals though.
